What is P2P?:
"P2P" has become a household term. The term refers to software applications, network technologies, and the ethics of file sharing. P2P first became popular when Napster set up a network for users to download music. When Napster was shut down by the US courts, most users just moved to Kazaa, an offshore network that grew to become even larger than the original Napster. Recently other systems like EMule and Shareeaza have been giving Kazaa some stiff competition.
Is Downloading Music Safe?:
If done correctly, you will have no trouble. Make sure you have good spyware and adware removal software before you start. Many files are corrupt, or contain trojans that can harm your computer, so learn how to find files that are safe. Do some research before you start.
Are Free Music Downloads Legal?:
It is not illegal to download them, but record companies who own copyrights to music files have been going after users who upload them. Your best bet is to find a filesharing comunity where you can get all the information you need to safely download files.
How Can I Get Started?:
If you know how to use P2P networks just do a search for Kazaa or EMule. If you are a new user, join a comunity like The File Sharing Center where you can learn the ins and outs of downloading free music files, and get all the right tools to get started.
